Bell’s “Best Brown Ale”

Style: American Brown Ale

ABV: 5.8%

Notes: Bell’s autumn seasonal is a little different than what you would normally find from a craft brewery’s fall lineup. This traditional American Brown Ale isn’t spiced or sweetened, but rather kept alone as is. As the leaves start to change color so do our palates, and Larry Bell’s intent is to offer the public an approachable, smooth, transitioning weather beverage. With hints of caramel and cocoa, the malt body has depth to stand up to cool weather, but does not come across as heavy. This balancing act is aided by the generous use of American hops.

Bell’s “Octoberfest Beer”

Style: Oktoberfest

ABV: 5.5%

Notes: One thing about Bell’s is that whatever they make has a textbook approach with perfect execution. They follow their stellar consistency with brewing Oktoberfest Beer, a six week long fermenting project that falls in line with anything brewed from the homeland. Gentle herbal hop aromatics lead way into a lightly toasted amber base, making this a perfect choice for fall festivities.

Bell’s “Special Double Cream Stout”

Style: Sweet Stout

ABV: 6.1%

Notes: Bell’s Special Double Cream Stout has such a complex combination of specialty roasted malts that most people think this is brewed as a traditional milk stout, when in fact no dairy products are in the beer, just brewing excellence. Double Cream will drink like liquid silk while the rich mocha and espresso flavors burst on the palate. Dark and sweet tones intermingle with a soft, roasty finish.

 Port City “Oktoberfest”

Style: Oktoberfest

ABV: 5.5%

Notes: Port City’s Oktoberfest is a traditional Marzen-style lager, brewed entirely with German malts and hops. This beer is a brilliant amber with gently sweet flavors of crusty bread, leading to a clean, dry finish punctuated by a touch of noble hops. Served in the Keller/Zwickel style, Port City’s fall seasonal is unfiltered and completely naturally carbonated so, in other words, their Oktoberfest is full-on authentic.
