NEW BREWS NEWS
Brewer’s Art “Penguin Pils”
Style: German Pilsner
ABV: 4.5%
Notes: A collaborative brew between The Maryland Zoo and Brewer’s Art, this German Noble and American hopped brew is crisp, light, and refreshing, making it perfect for summer sipping. A portion of all sales of Penguin Pils will benefit The Maryland Zoo in Baltimore’s African penguin program. This zoo is home to North America’s largest African penguin exhibit, Penguin Coast. This exhibit currently houses a colony of 66 penguins with room for up to 100 of these endangered birds. Active zoo staff support a number of conservation and research projects as well as public education programs on behalf of the species.
Hofbräu “Oktoberfestbier”
Style: Oktoberfest
ABV: 6.3%
Notes: The Munich Beer Festival, or Oktoberfest, is an event of superlatives – it’s the largest popular festival in the world, staging in the beer metropolis of Munich. Millions of visitors from all over the world flock among every year to enjoy its very special atmosphere. For this occasion, Hofbräu brews a rich, full-bodied beer which goes down ideally with traditional Bavarian cuisine. With its deliciously bitter taste and sturdy alcohol content of 6.3%, Oktoberfestbier is as special as the Beer Festival itself.
Stone “22nd Anniversary Anni-Matter Double IPA”
Style: Imperial IPA
ABV: 9.1%
Notes: Stone Brewing has spent over 20 years pursuing clean, bitter, hop forward beers. It would be passé to suggest this beer is simply another gigantically juicy and extremely complex Stone Double IPA. It’s a middle finger to the haze craze proving that clean, crisp IPAs can still be smashed full of big, juicy, tropical flavor. It’s also the winner of their 2018 Spotlight Series contest, which puts teams of brewers against each other to see who can brew the best beer. Citrus takes the forefront, with plenty of fruit character to back it up. With incredible mouthfeel from the malted oats, the beer isn’t sweet at all, but its light amber color would make you think it is sweeter than it tastes.
Boulevard “Berliner Weisse”
Style: Berliner Weissbier
ABV: 4.5%
Notes: Few beer styles can match the delicate, sparkling character of the classic Berliner Weisse, with its light body and tart palate. It’s said that Napoleon’s troops referred to it as “The Champagne of the North,” high praise for beer coming from a Frenchman. With Berliner Weisse, Boulevard pays tribute to the style, while giving it a distinctively American twist. Bright and thirst quenching, the beer is enlivened by soft lactic notes.

TERRAPIN
Terrapin “Beyond the Galaxy Single Hopped IPA”
Style: American IPA
ABV: 6.3%
Notes: This single-hopped IPA is brewed with an astronomical amount of Galaxy hops for stellar flavor and an aroma of candied pineapple and tropical fruit. Beyond the Galaxy is deep gold in color with a soft, juicy bitterness that will take you on a voyage where no mash has gone before.
