Bell’s “Arabicadabra”

Style: Coffee Milk Stout

ABV: 5.5%

Notes: A little brewer’s magic transforms locally roasted Arabica beans and a variety of specialty malts into a creamy, intense coffee stout. Arabicadabra is brewed with a cold coffee extract made at the brewery using a combination of fair trade, organic Nicaraguan coffee beans and Sumatra coffee beans. Lactose is also used for a complex, layered creamy mouthfeel. Enjoy this one before it disappears.


Bell’s “Christmas Ale”

Style: Scotch Ale

ABV: 7.5%

Notes: An alternative to traditional spiced winter warmers, this Scotch Ale features Michigan grown malt from the Bell’s Farm in Shepherd, Michigan. This imparts a dry, toasted character that brings forth subtle caramel and toffee-like flavors. A blend of hops from the Pacific Northwest and locally grown varietals from Michigan lend an earthy, herbal aroma to compliment the holidays, not overpower it. Certain to make any occasion festive, or at least a bit more bearable.


Bell’s “Expedition Stout”

Style: Russian Imperial Stout

ABV: 10.5%

Notes: One of the earliest examples of a Russian Imperial Stout brewed in America, this style of beer is inspired from brewers back in the 1800’s to win over the Russian Czar. This colossal malt body is matched with a hefty blend of dark chocolate, espresso, dark fruit, and smoke. Drink it now, or age it and allow all of the beer’s complexity to grow in depth.


Boulevard/Modern Times “Restless Nights”

Style: Bourbon Barrel-Aged Coffee Porter

ABV: 7.5%

Notes: A collaboration with Modern Times Beer + Coffee, this beguiling blend of fresh porter and barrel-aged porter was brewed with ten varieties of malted barley, wheat and oats. Following fermentation, this inky brew rested on bourbon barrel-aged coffee for two days, infusing trace notes of ripe fruit, citrus and rich vanilla.  


Boulevard “Nutcracker Ale”

ABV: 7.8%

Notes: Nutcracker Ale is Boulevard’s holiday gift for real beer lovers. This hearty, warming brew is a classic winter ale, deep amber in color, with hints of molasses balanced by the spiciness of Chinook hops.  


Flying Dog “Ain’t Nothing But A G Thing”

Style: Hazy Pale Ale

ABV: 5.4%

Notes: Gerald “G” Bigelow was so much more than a coworker. He always laughed at everyone’s jokes, and he spent hours of his free time patiently teaching a rowdy, inebriated bunch of mutts how to play D&D. He was a friend, a brother, and Flying Dog’s Dungeon Master, and they miss him more than any words written here can convey. The Flying Dog family has decided to pay tribute to their fallen friend the best way they know how: By brewing a beer that’s almost as amazing as he was. Ain’t Nothing But A G Thing has a juicy-fruity yeast strain that G himself had been experimenting with in his own homebrewing escapades. The end result is a deliciously tropical haze pale ale that reminds us of a mystery Dum Dum sucker. All proceeds of this beer go to the Bigelow family. Cheers to you, G. This one’s for you, buddy.


Flying Dog “Family Drama”

Style: Imperial Pilsner

ABV: 8.4%

Notes: I’ll be home for Christmas, but let Mom know I’ll definitely need a beer that’s higher in ABV. Flying Dog didn’t just brew an imperial pilsner, they brewed an 8.4% holiday coping mechanism. Light malt notes with slightly-floral hop character, this beer tastes like good tidings of comfort and joy. Which is good because Uncle Frank is here, ready to give his annual update on body parts that hurt. Family Drama pairs perfectly with roasted meats, holiday-spiced desserts, and staring off into space while pretending you’re invisible.

After a long day of sliding across icy parking lots on your face, there’s no better way to beat back the cold than with K-9 Winter Warmer, a strong English ale teeming with deep malty flavor and nutty spiciness. Pull up a seat by the fireplace with a slice of spice cake or a bowl of hearty stew, and let K-9 thaw your soul in ways a Snuggie never could. Tis the season for sibling rivalries, shopping malls, stretch pants, and a rich winter warmer to make it all go away.


 Monument City/Whitey’s/Goetze’s “Bulls-Eye Caramel Cream Milk Stout”

ABV: 4.5%

Notes: Shout out to the Bahston Beah Guy, Rob Goss, for quarterbacking this amazing beer. What started as a few text messages exchanged between Rob from Whitey’s and Monument City’s co-founder, Ken Praay, joking how good Goetze’s Bulls-Eye candies would be in a beer, turned into a reality when all three teams aligned. Highlandtown’s Goetze’s Candy Co. and Monument City realized Rob Goss had the right idea, which then lead to MCB’s first milk stout. Made with lactose for sweetness, MCB added actual caramel candies to the brewing process, along with the same sugars and vanilla Goetze’s uses in making the candy. How’s the beer you ask? It’s wicked fahckin’ good.
